SILVIA ODORCIC MD, FRCSC

OPHTHALMOLOGIST

Dr. Silvia Odorcic is a Cornea trained ophthalmologist who completed her Cornea, Refractive Surgery and External Disease Fellowship at Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston.  She has a special interest in dry eye and ocular surface disease. During her time in Boston, she worked under the mentorship of Dr. Claes Dohlman, one of the field’s most honoured ophthalmologists and the inventor of the Boston Keratoprosthesis, the most commonly used artificial cornea worldwide.
 
Prior to fellowship, Dr. Odorcic completed her residency training at the University of Ottawa Eye Institute under the mentorship of Dr. Bruce Jackson, a top leader and pioneer in laser vision correction. Their two major research projects focused on artificially engineered corneal implants and novel treatments of dry eye disease.
 
Prior to her residency, Dr. Odorcic completed her medical school at the University of Toronto and her undergraduate degree at Cornell University, double majoring in Biology and English literature. She has always been passionate about ophthalmology and spent four months in Ghana helping to treat cataract patients prior to her acceptance into medical school. In her spare time, Dr. Odorcic loves to cook and follows a whole foods plant-based lifestyle. She enjoys yoga, weight lifting, and learning about the power of plant-based nutrition to prevent and reverse chronic lifestyle diseases, such as diabetes and heart disease.
