York Finch Eye Associates, adjacent to the former Humber River Hospital (now named the Reactivation Care Centre), is a well-established ophthalmology practice that was founded by the late Dr. William Samis MD FRCSC in 1971. Since its opening, YFEA has become a leader in both comprehensive and surgical eye care. The clinic incorporates multiple faculties including ophthalmology, optometry and neighbouring opticians (Gough Optical). YFEA also provides teaching opportunities for medical students interested in ophthalmology through The Eye Foundation of Canada. YFEA is a referral based clinic requiring a requisition from a family physician or optometrist.
